Women's Tennis Drops C-USA Championship Opener

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Marquette, the 10th seed in the 2003 C-USA Women's Tennis Championship, upset DePaul, the No. 7 seed, with a 4-2 victory on Saturday at Tulane's Goldring Tennis Center. Marquette advances to face second-seeded TCU on Sunday at noon (CST).
The Golden Eagles improve to 4-16 with win, while the Blue Demons drop to 17-9 with the loss.
Marquette jumped the early lead by winning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Eva Trujillo, along with Veronica Briseno and Gen Charron helped MU seal the win with victories at the No. 2, 4 and 6 singles slots, respectively.
DePaul moves into the losers bracket and will face to be determined opponent on Monday at 9 a.m. (CST) at the Goldring Tennis Center.
