Looking at the Blue Demons
The Blue Demons opened the season with a pair of road matches at Nebraska and UW-Green Bay. Last Friday at Nebraska, the club lost a tough 1-0 match to the No. 12 Cornhuskers. Despite coming up on the short end of the scoreboard, DePaul outshot Nebraska, 21-17, and controlled the entire second half of the match.
The Blue Demons redeemed themselves on Sunday at UW-Green Bay with a 4-0 victory over the Phoenix. Sophomore Julianne Sitch led the way with a pair of goals and an assist. Sophomore Erin Walter and freshman Lea Hill also found the back of the net for their first collegiate goals. On Hill’s goal, she teamed up with fellow freshman Kelly DeBaene for the score and Walter was assisted by Sitch. In addition to making five saves, Blue Demon goalkeeper Lindsey Deason earned an assist as she set up Sitch off a free kick for the match’s first goal.
