CHICAGO – DePaul women’s basketball coach Doug Bruno announced today that Erin Cattell of Sandburg High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Blue Demons next season. She is the first recruit of the BIG EAST Conference era of women's basketball at DePaul.
Cattell, a 6-1 forward, led Sandburg to a 23-10 record as a junior. She averaged just over 14 points with seven rebounds per game during the 2003-04 campaign while shooting over 85 percent from the free throw line. The Orland Park native was named a third team All-State honoree by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and earned All-Area honors from the Chicago Sun-Times.
"Erin Cattell is a fierce competitor that blends her scoring and rebounding basketball talents with a happy enthusiasm that is contagious,” said Bruno. “Erin will be a very important charter member of our first DePaul team to compete in the BIG EAST.”
