Champaign, Ill. - The DePaul Blue Demons women’s tennis team fell to No. 22 Illinois, 7-0 on Saturday at the Atkins Tennis Center. DePaul falls to 11-6 on the season.
“Illinois is a great team,” head coach Mark Ardizzone said. “I was extremely proud of our 2 seniors Natalie and Karen. They are 2 of the winningest players in the programs history and they showed why today. They fought extremely hard and went down absolutely fighting. Hopefully our younger players learned something from watching them today.”
DePaul’s Natalie Matko and Karen Falduto defeated Illinois’s Tiffany Eklov and Isabel Jaroz 9-8 (8) in the No. 2 doubles match.
The Blue Demons have the week off before a spring break trip to Miami Florida when they take on Northwestern on March 23 at 10:00 a.m.
