Gergana Ganeva Named Conference USA Freshman of the Year

CHICAGO – DePaul’s Gergana Ganeva was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year and first team all-league, after leading the Blue Demons to a 19-10 record, including a 6-0 C-USA mark, it was announced by the conference today.
Ganeva becomes the first DePaul player since Szilvia Kelemen (2000) to claim the league’s Freshman of the Year award. She went 10-2 as the No. 1 singles player for the Blue Demons, posting three victories over nationally-ranked opponents this season. Ganeva also partnered with teammate Marina Parashkevova to notch an 8-4 mark at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Parashkevova went 24-11 in singles matches during the season, including a sterling 11-1 slate at the No. 2 position to earn third-team honors.
Tulane led all Conference USA teams with six all-league selections, followed by TCU with three. DePaul and Houston each had two selections apiece.
