CHICAGO – DePaul's Drake Diener has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V team as selected by CoSIDA for second consecutive year it was announced today.
Diener, a senior from Fond du Lac, Wis., carries a 3.42 cumulative GPA in Secondary Education. He was named to the Academic All-District V squad last season and was also named the Conference USA Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2004.
On the playing floor, Diener holds the school records for career three-point field goals and free throw percentage. On Wednesday at Charlotte, he tied the school record for three-point field goals in a game with seven. The 42nd player in school history to score 1,000 points, he is one of 12 players in Blue Demon history to have 1,000 points and 260 assists.
Diener’s name will now be placed on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American team which will be announced later in the season.
