MADISON, Wis. -- The No. 34 Wisconsin women’s tennis team earned a hard-fought 5-2 victory over DePaul at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The loss ended DePaul’s nine-match winning streak.
Highlighting the Blue Demon performance was freshman Beatrix Csordas beating the nation’s 77th-ranked player in Wisconsin’s Katie McGaffigan, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3.
“Wisconsin is a great team,” DePaul Head Coach Mark Ardizzone said. “We just didn't get the effort we needed from everyone to be able to hang with them. Winning only four games at No. 4 and No. 5 singles was too much momentum to overcome.
“Bea and Marina each had tremendous days. Along with the wins in singles, together they beat one of the top ranked doubles teams in the region for their 13th consecutive victory," Ardizzone added.
