The Records
DePaul is 8-9 overall and 1-5 in the BIG EAST after losing to Providence 76-75 on Saturday in Providence. Marquette is 14-5 and 4-2 after beating Notre Dame 67-65 on Friday at the Bradley Center.
The Series
Marquette leads the series 60-42. Marquette won the previous meeting 82-79 last Tuesday at the Allstate Arena. The two teams split both meetings last season with each winning at home (DePaul won 85-72 in Rosemont and Marquette won 67-57 in Milwaukee). Current streak: Marquette - 2.
The Last Meeting
Dominic James had 29 points and Steve Novak added 20 as Marquette held off DePaul 82-79 on Tuesday, January 17 at the Allstate Arena. Sammy Mejia led DePaul with 24 points while Draelon Burns added 23. The Golden Eagles stormed out to a 24 point lead before the Blue Demons were able to cut the deficit to two with under a minute left.
The Coaches
Jerry Wainwright is in his first season at DePaul and his 12th as a head coach. He is 194-153 overall and 8-9 with the Blue Demons. Wainwright is 0-1 against the Golden Eagles. Tom Crean is in his seventh season as a head coach, all at Marquette. Crean is 137-70 including a 10-3 slate against the Blue Demons.
