WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Georgetown Hoyas scored two goals in each half to hand the visiting DePaul Blue Demons a 4-0 loss on Friday afternoon. DePaul finishes the season on Sunday with a match at Villanova.
Elaina Filauro scored both first-half goals to put Georgetown (5-8-5, 2-6-2 BIG EAST) up by two goals in the opening 20 minutes. She the scored the first goal unassisted at 5:02 before tallying her second score at 19:59. Norah Swanson and Chrissy Skogen set up the goal that Filauro finished to the lower right corner from the top of the box for her fourth goal of the season.
Minutes into the second half, Cristina Araps increased the advantage to three goals on a one-timer from Skogen. Skogen put the ball at the near post where Araps knocked it home at 49:14.
Skogen tallied her third assist of the game in the 58th minute when she set up Alexandra Hardy for the final goal of the afternoon. Skogen pass from the sideline found Hardy who beat DePaul goalkeeper Cara LaRocca at 57:54.
Georgetown finished the match with 18 shots while the Blue Demons were able to get off five attempts. However, none of the DePaul shots were on goal while LaRocca stopped six Hoya shots.
DePaul (3-12-2, 0-9-1 BIG EAST) closes the 2006 season at Villanova on Sunday. Kickoff at the Villanova Soccer Complex is set for 1 p.m. EST.
Match Notes: DePaul’s 11-match streak without a win is the longest since an 11-gamer during the 2001 season… the 1997 season saw the longest streak at 14 matches without a victory... the series with Georgetown is now tied 1-1-0.
