CHICAGO – The DePaul women’s tennis team reached a new milestone in the program’s history when the latest national rankings were announced today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and the Blue Demons came in at 54th, the highest ever for DePaul.
"It is an honor to be in the national rankings,” DePaul head coach Mark Ardizzone said. “It is extremely hard to get there, but it's even harder to stay. We know we have a lot of work ahead of us but are looking forward to the challenge. Our focus now is to be the best team in the Big East that we can possibly be."
The Blue Demons are currently 10-4 overall and 1-0 in BIG EAST Conference play. DePaul has won five straight and seven of its last nine after beating then-51st-ranked Wisconsin 5-2 on Friday in Madison.
The Blue Demons will venture back into BIG EAST action this weekend, playing at West Virginia on Friday and then facing St. John’s in Morgantown on Saturday.
