MILWAUKEE – DePaul’s women’s tennis team continued its impressive debut in the BIG EAST Conference by beating Syracuse 4-3 on Saturday in Milwaukee.
“Our top three players really showed a lot of resolve today,” DePaul head coach Mark Ardizzone said. “They just would not let our team lose as they all overcame big deficits to turn the match around. Syracuse is a great team who I am sure we will see again down the road at the Big East Tournament.”
DePaul opened the meet by winning the doubles point behind victories at No. 1 (Beatrix Csordas and Gergana Ganeva) and No. 2 (Dunja Antunovic and Anja Mihaldinec).
The singles action was back and forth as Csordas (No. 1) and Antunovic (No. 3) both lost the first sets before bouncing back to win while Ganeva (No. 2) came back from down 4-0 in her match.
