Women's Tennis Closes WMU Super Challenge

KALAMAZOO, Mich. The DePaul women’s tennis team notched five singles victories on Sunday as the Western Michigan Super Challenge came to a close. The Blue Demons posted a 13-10 record in singles play and an 8-7 record in doubles competition during the three-day tournament at West Hills Athletic Club.
Senior Gergana Ganeva and freshman Katarina Milinkovic were named co-champions of the Silver Singles Draw as both Blue Demons went undefeated the entire weekend. Milinkovic topped Wichita State’s Lenore Lazaroiu, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (5) on Sunday, while Ganeva finished with a 2-6, 6-0, 1-0 (5) victory over WMU’s Priyanka Parekh.
Sophomore Kirsten Gambrell wrapped up consolation play in the Brown Singles Draw with a 6-1, 1-6, 1-0 (6) victory over Ashley Moccia of WMU. Freshman Selma Salkovic closed out consolation action in the Black Singles Draw with a 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (6) win over WMU’s Emily Dudzik. Junior Dunja Antunovic capped off her weekend by defeating Indiana’s Charlotte Martin, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (7), in open consolation play.
The Gold Singles Draw title went to Kerstin Pahl of WMU, while Anna Egorova of Wichita State won the Brown Singles Draw championship. Yale’s Jessica Rhee came away with the Black Singles Draw crown and the doubles title was claimed by Wichita State’s Stephanie Dalmacio and Anna Egorova.
The WMU Super Challenge concludes DePaul’s fall tournament schedule. The Blue Demons open their winter slate on January 11 at the Northwestern Invitational in Evanston, Illinois.
