Women's Tennis Inks Selma Salkovic

CHICAGO DePaul women’s tennis coach Mark Ardizzone announced the signing of Selma Salkovic to a National Letter of Intent. Salkovic comes from Pula, Croatia to join the Blue Demons as a student-athlete in the 2007-08 season.
Salkovic has won seven national tournaments in Croatia and reached the semifinals of both the indoor and outdoor U18 Croatian Championships. As a junior she reached an International Tennis Federation ranking of 344th and a European Tennis Association U16 ranking of 64th. In addition, she served as captain of her school team that won the Croatian national title.
"We are extremely excited to have Selma join the DePaul family,” Ardizzone said. “She is a great athlete and a hard worker both on and off the court. She will be a great addition to our Blue Demon squad."
Salcovic joins Katarina Milincovic of Serbia in the women’s tennis freshman class of 2007-08.
The 2007 season saw DePaul post an overall record of 13-12 and a BIG EAST Conference record of 6-5. The Blue Demons placed sixth at the BIG EAST Championship in Tampa, Florida.
