DePaul joins a field of competition from Chicago State, College of DuPage, Northern Illinois, UIC and Western Illinois. The tournament features a bracket-style format with four singles flights and two doubles flights. Friday's action opens at 2 p.m., while play on Saturday and Sunday begins at 9 a.m.
Head coach Mark Ardizzone begins his 12th season with the Blue Demons following a 2006-07 campaign that saw DePaul post an overall record of 13-12 with a sixth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship.
Senior Beatrix Csordas and junior Dunja Antunovic both carry FILA/ITA singles rankings into the fall. Antunovic holds a national ranking of 93, while Csordas is ranked 123rd. The summer saw Antunovic compete for Hungary at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
In addition to Antunovic and Csordas, the 2007-08 squad returns seniors Gergana Ganeva, Clare Chmiel, Anja Mihaldinec and Bojana Murisic, as well as sophomore Kirsten Gambrell. Ardizzone also welcomes newcomers Katarina Milinkovic and Selma Salkovic to the Blue Demons.
