Antunovic Enters ITA All-American Championships

CHICAGO Dunja Antunovic of the DePaul women’s tennis team joins the nation’s top collegiate talent in California this weekend at the 23rd Annual Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The Blue Demon junior opens pre-qualifying singles action on Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Antunovic enters the 64-player pre-qualifying bracket with a FILA/ITA national ranking of 93 and holds the fifth seed. She faces No. 119 Aurelija Miseviciute of Arkansas in Saturday’s first round at 12:15 p.m. (CST). The winner advances to Saturday’s second round to face the winner of Cristala Andrews of USC versus Caren Seenauth of Miami at 3:45 p.m. The final round of pre-qualifying matches begins on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Eight players from the pre-qualifying bracket advance to the 64-player qualifying tournament, which runs Tuesday and Wednesday at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California. The top eight players from the qualifying bracket then enter the main draw on Thursday and the tournament concludes with championship matches on Sunday, October 7.
Antunovic led the Blue Demons during the 2006-07 campaign with 26 singles victories and reached as high as No. 77 in the FILA/ITA singles poll. Over the summer, she represented Hungary at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
