LOS ANGELES Dunja Antunovic of the DePaul women’s tennis team dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Aurelija Miseviciute of Arkansas on Saturday at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
Antunovic came into the tournament as the fifth seed in women’s pre-qualifying singles and exits after the first round at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Blue Demon junior holds a FILA/ITA national preseason ranking of 93, while Miseviciute entered the tournament with a ranking of 119. Miseviciute advances to face Miami’s Caren Seenauth in the second round.
“This tournament allowed Dunja to join the best collegiate players in the nation. Unfortunately she fell to a great opponent in the first round,” DePaul head coach Mark Ardizzone said.
The Blue Demons return to action next weekend at Northwestern's Wildcat Invitational. The three-day tournament runs October 5-7 in Evanston, Illinois.
