Women's Tennis Wraps Up Day Two of Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. The DePaul women’s tennis team struggled today during day two of the Wildcat Invitational. Despite suffering 11 losses on the second day of competition, the Blue Demons rallied to earn seven victories bringing their overall tournament record to 16-17.
Anna Redecsi suffered a loss to No. 36 ITA Preseason ranked Lauren Lui of Northwestern, 6-2, 7-5, to be eliminated from the Flight A singles bracket. Dunja Antunovic was defeated by South Carolina’s Gira Schofield, 6-1, 6-4, before rallying back to claim victory over No. 101 Nazlie Ghazal, 6-0, 6-2.
Gia McKnight defeated Katie Potts of BIG EAST Conference rival Notre Dame 6-7, 6-3 (4), before bowing out to Natasha Vuckovic, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Despite suffering her first singles loss of the season, McKnight boasts a team best singles record of 6-1.
Also going 1-1 on the day were Flight C singles representatives Sandra Zmak and Selma Salkovic. Zmak knocked off Oklahoma’s Peta Maree Lancaster, 6-4, 6-3, before losing to Stacy Lee of Northwestern 6-3, 6-1. Salkovic lost to Miljana Jocic of South Carolina, 6-4, 6-2, after beating Oklahoma’s Marie-Pier Huet, 6-4, 6-2.
Cali Gustafson earned her first win of the tournament against LSU’s Chandler Kleinpeter, 6-1, ret., before bowing out to Ana Milosauljevic of Michigan State 6-4, 6-2. Gustafson went on to team up with Zmak to claim victory over Kalashivova and Lancaster of Oklahoma 8-3.
Also earning a win on day two was Katarina Milinkovic and Redecsi, who defeated Nicole Kantor and Nicole Smith of LSU 9-8 (2).
The Wildcat Invitational wraps up tomorrow, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (CST)
