Women's Tennis Concludes the Fall Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. The DePaul women’s tennis team completed the final round of singles play on day three of the IU Invitational. The Blue Demons took on the Hoosiers of host Indiana in the final dual match-up of the tournament.
Freshman Gia McKnight went a perfect 3-0 in the tournament after defeating Myriam Sopel, 6-1, 7-6. She now boasts a team-best 11-2 record. Also going undefeated on the weekend, junior Anna Redecsi beat Charlotte Martin, 6-3, 6-0.
Dunja Antunovic picked up her second win of the tournament in beating Katya Sapadalova. After splitting the first two sets, the senior won the tie breaker, 10-8. Selma Salkovic also posted a 2-1 tournament record after winning her match against Sigrid Fischer, 0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9).
Final score of the dual was 4-3 in favor of DePaul.
The IU Invitational marks the conclusion of the fall tournament schedule. The Blue Demons return to action after the New Year when the dual season begins.

Noting the Demons: Freshman Gia McKnight boasts a team-high 11 singles victories... McKnight won a flight championship at the Bronco Invitational... Junior Sandra Zmak won a singles-bracket flight at the Bronco Invitational... Senior Dunja Antunovic is 3-2 against ranked opponents... Junior Kirsten Gambrell and Antunovic accumulated six doubles victories during the fall season... McKnight and sophomore Selma Salkovic have a team-high seven doubles victories as a pair... Blue Demon duo of Gambrell and Antunovic advanced to the ITA Midwest Regional championship finals for the first time in program history.
