EVANSTON, Ill. -- Anna Redecsi put together one of her most dominating singles performances of her Blue Demon career on Sunday at the ITA Midwest Regionals at Northwestern's Combe Indoor Tennis Center.
Playing for a spot in the quarterfinals, Redecsi had her eye on prize and overpowered No. 74 Rika Tatsuno from Michigan. Redecsi, who entered the tournament ranked No. 66, easily took the match, 6-1, 6-2.
"Anna had one of her best singles performances of her career today," DePaul head coach Mark Ardizzone said at the conclusions of the day.
Redecsi's singles win came after the senior qualified for the championship of the main doubles draw with junior Selma Salkovic. The duo overtook two pairs from Northwestern earlier in the day to advance to the title match.
"The doubles wins excited her (Anna) and it really carried over to her singles play," Ardizzone added.
Redecsi has played exceptionally well during the Midwest Regional as the senior has surrendered just six total sets in two singles matches.
The Blue Demon senior is scheduled to play No. 40 Samantha Murray from Northwestern at noon on Monday. The two have met once before in Evanston with Murray taking the match 6-1, 7-5.
