KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The DePaul women's tennis team closed out the WMU Super Challenge as well as the fall tournament portion of its schedule on Sunday. Only two Blue Demons -- Gia McKnight and Katarina Milinkovic -- played matches on Sunday at the West Hills Athletic Club. Both McKnight and Milinkovic played student-athletes from Iowa State.
McKnight added to her weekend win total with a hard-fought win over Erin Karonis 7-6 (9), 7-6 (8). The match played even but McKnight battled and recorded her second win of the weekend. The sophomore finished the fall season with 5-5 record.
Milinkovic dropped a heartbreaker to Maria Fernanda Macedo. The pair battled, but it was Macedo who picked up the victory in a tie-breaker in place of a third set. Macedo won the match, 6-4, 4-6, (10-4).
The Blue Demons had a successful fall campaign as the team totaled 35 singles and 16 doubles victories while Anna Redecsi and Selma Salkovic reached the quarterfinals of the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship after winning the Midwest Regional.
The Blue Demons return to the court in January when they travel to Evanston for the Northwestern Invitational Jan. 15-17.
