DePaul Volleyball Travels to Notre Dame

CHICAGO- The DePaul Volleyball team (1-18, 0-6 BIG EAST) finishes its road swing of matches Friday night playing Notre Dame (11-7, 4-2 BIG EAST) and then return home to play SIU-Edwardsville (10-8, 0-0 Ohio Valley Conference) at 2 p.m. in McGrath Arena.
The Blue Demons are 0-4 on this swing of five road matches. Last weekend, DePaul dropped a 3-0 loss to Cincinnati on Friday and lost a 3-0 match to Louisville on Sunday. Rachel Aumann led the Blue Demons with a .412 (7-0-17) attack percentage in the match against Cincinnati and Senior Kate Letcher led the team with seven kills in the match against Louisville.
DePaul's next match will be Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Chicago State. The Blue Demons return to BIG EAST play next weekend with a pair of home matches against Marquette and Syracuse.
DePaul vs. Notre Dame
Notre Dame enters the weekend with a 4-2 BIG EAST record… Notre Dame leads the all time series with an 11-4 record against DePaul… a season ago, the Fighting Irish posted a 3-0 win at McGrath Arena.
DePaul vs. SIU-Edwardsville
SIU-Edwardsville enters the weekend with a 10-8 overall record… this will be the first time DePaul plays SIU-Edwardsville.
Double Digit Digs
Katherine Knutson has had double digit digs in 14 matches this season… she leads the team and is currently ranked seventh in the BIG EAST with 4.19 digs per set… in BIG EAST Matches she averages 4.90 digs per set which is fourth in the Conference… recorded 10 digs in the match against Louisville and 17 digs in the match against Cincinnati.
Defensively Strong
DePaul is currently fourth in the BIG EAST averaging 15.08 digs per set… in BIG EAST matches DePaul is seventh averaging 13.67 digs per set… DePaul totaled 113 digs in the match against Georgia State which is the second most in the BIG EAST… Chelsea Thurlby totaled 33 digs against Georgia State which is the second most any athlete has had this season in the BIG EAST.
Freshman Standout
Freshman Chelsea Kirkpatrick had been in double digit kills six times this season and leads the team with 2.19 kills per set.
