
Blue Demons Fall to Panthers

MILWAKUEE- The DePaul volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-19) match to UW-Milwaukee, Tuesday night. The Blue Demons fall to 4-21 and 1-8 in the BIG EAST Conference, while the Panthers improve to 15-8 and 10-1 in the Horizon League.
Katherine Knutson led the Blue Demons defensively with 20 digs, while Chelsea Kirkpatrick and Kyndell Highland each totaled seven kills.
Unable to find an offensive rhythm in the first set, the Blue Demons totaled a .000 (9-9-36) team attack percentage. The Panthers used their .300 (14-5-30) team attack percentage to take the first set 25-16.
Led by Kirkpatrick's .400 (4-0-10) attack percentage in the second set, the Blue Demons began the set trading points to a tie at 10. The Panthers then went on a 7-0 run, which forced DePaul to take a timeout. The Blue Demons came out of the timeout with more focus; however they still struggled to find an offensive rhythm. The Panthers closed the set 25-22.
Rachel Aumann collected three kills in the third set, but the momentum was on UW-Milwaukee's side, the Panthers used their 18 team kills to end the third 25-19.
DePaul returns to the McGrath Arena for a BIG EAST match against Connecticut on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Notes: Katherine Knutson has recorded double-digit digs in 21 matches... recorded 20 digs in the match against UW-Milwaukee... Freshman Chelsea Kirkpatrick had been in double-digit kills 10 times this season.
