
Fall Tennis in Evanston

CHICAGO - After starting the fall season at Oklahoma, the DePaul women's tennis team stays closer to home and travels the short distance to Evanston for the Wildcat Invitational, Oct. 8-10 at the Vandy Christie Outdoor Tennis Center.
The Blue Demons, who combined for 18 victories at the Oklahoma Fall Invitational Sept. 24-26, are slated to play student-athletes from Northwestern, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Western Michigan and Wisconsin during the three-day tournament.
The field is broken into four flights of doubles and singles. Newcomer Samantha Kaneta represents DePaul in the A flight while freshman Christiana Raymond and Kelsey Lawson are scheduled to battle in B flight. Junior Cali Gustafson has been placed in the C flight while Selma Salkovic, Katarina Milinkovic and Gia McKnight will all compete in the D flight.
Raymond and Salkovic each lead the Blue Demons with three singles wins while Raymond won the consolation side of her bracket in Oklahoma.
In doubles action, DePaul's No. 31 pair of Salkovic and McKnight is 3-0 after reaching the championship of the Oklahoma A flight before play was stopped. In route to the Championship match, the duo dominated its competition and dropped just seven games in Oklahoma.
Salkovic and McKnight are slated to play in the D-doubles flight while Milinkovic and Gustafson have been placed in the C flight. Raymond and Lawson have been paired in the A flight while Kaneta has been paired with UIC's Kathryn Sharples in the lower half of the same flight.
Play begins on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with two rounds of doubles action before singles flights start in the afternoon. Doubles play will conclude on Saturday morning before the second and third round of singles action completes the day. Play concludes on Sunday with the remaining singles matches.
