
Women's Tennis Heads to WMU Super Challenge

CHICAGO - The DePaul women's tennis team closes out the Fall portion of its schedule at the WMU Super Challenge, hosted by Western Michigan at the West Hills Athletic Club. The Blue Demons compete against student-athletes from Indiana, Iowa State, Penn State, host Western Michigan and a combination team of athletes from Louisville and Wisconsin, Nov. 5-7.
Action begins at 9:30 a.m. (CST) on Friday with two rounds of doubles followed by a round of singles in the afternoon. Saturday begins with a round of doubles, followed by an early afternoon round of singles. The tournament concludes with a final round of singles on Sunday at 8 a.m.
Each of the programs will participate in both singles and doubles competition, while a point system will be utilized to crown individual champions in singles and doubles play.
Points are awarded 8 -1, with a No. 1 singles/doubles win earning eight points, descending downward to a No. 8 win worth one point. Match tiebreakers will be played for third sets.
DePaul begins its final fall tournament with a combined 33 wins in singles play while the Blue Demons have tallied 11 doubles victories.
Freshman Kelsey Lawson leads DePaul with an 8-5 mark in singles play while the No. 31 team of Selma Salkovic and Gia McKnight boast a 6-2 record.
Following the WMU Super Challenge, the Blue Demons break from action until January when they make the short trek to Evanston for the Northwestern Invitational, Jan. 14-16.
