Quigley Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

CHICAGO - DePaul senior guard Sam Quigley was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll it was announced today by the league office. Connecticut senior forward Maya Moore was named the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while Notre Dame's Natalie Achonwa was selected as the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.
Quigley became DePaul's 24th 1,000-point scorer and led the Blue Demons to three wins last week. The senior eclipsed the millennium mark with a season-best 17 points at Pittsburgh while she tallied 12 in DePaul's win at Loyola-Chicago and led the Blue Demons with 13 points in their victory over Northern Illinois.
In addition to her scoring efforts, Quigley dished out 13 assists -- including a season-best nine assists at Pittsburgh. The Joliet, Ill., native also tallied six steals and averaged 2.3 rebounds per game.
This is the first weekly honor for Quigley this season, while she was named to the honor roll four times during the 2009-10 season.
DePaul (11-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) jumped today to No. 22 in the Associated Press Poll, last week the Blue Demons entered the Poll at No. 24 after receiving votes all season.
The Blue Demons host Northwestern (8-1) tonight. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. at McGrath Arena while the game will be carried live on DePaul's BlueTube with Drew Olson handling the announcing duties.
