Hampton Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

CHICAGO - DePaul junior forward Keisha Hampton was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll it announced today by the league office. Syracuse sophomore center Kayla Alexander was named BIG EAST women's basketball Player of the Week, while Louisville freshman guard Shoni Schimmel was selected as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Hampton averaged 22.0 points in DePaul's wins over Illinois State and at SIU Edwardsville last week. The Philadelphia native scored a career-best 31 against Illinois State on 10-for-18 shooting including three, 3-pointers. Hampton was 6-for-6 from the free throw and led DePaul with 14 points at SIUE.
On the week, Hampton was 14-for-25 from the field and led the Blue Demons with five steals. She also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out five assists.
Hampton has reached double figures in eight of DePaul's nine games this season and ranks second in the BIG EAST with 18.6 points per game. The junior enters this week with 967 career points and is on track to become DePaul's 25th 1,000 point scorer.
The Blue Demons (8-1) begin BIG EAST Conference play on Tuesday at Pittsburgh. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST) and can be seen live on Comcast Pittsburgh.
