CHICAGO - Anna Redecsi and Selma Salkovic inked their names into DePaul's history book by becoming the first Blue Demon tandem to win the ITA Midwest Regional and reach quarterfinals of the Indoor Doubles Championship in 2009; on May 27, 2010 the pair will make history again when they begin the 2010 NCAA 32-team doubles championship at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Redecsi and Salkovic enter the Doubles Championship ranked No. 18 in the Campbell's/ITA Collegiate rankings and will face No. 37 Holly Dowse and Emma Hayman from the College of Charleston in the afternoon session.
DePaul's dynamic duo brings a 29-7 record to Georgia and has won nine of its last 11 matches. Redecsi and Salkovic are 7-4 against nationally ranked opponents this season and face the College of Charleston pair for the first time.
Dowse and Hayman is the first pair from the Southern Conference to qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship and bring a 17-6 record to the court. The tandem has won nine of its last 10 matches with its lone loss coming at the hands of No. 7 Josipa Bek and Ina Hadziselimovic from Clemson.
Should the Blue Demon pair advance they could see a familiar team in No. 1 Natalie Pluskota and Caitlin Whoriskey from Tennessee. Pluskota and Whoriskey stopped Redecsi and Salkovic Indoor Championship run in November. The Volunteer pair had to come-from-behind to win the series only meeting 8-6 in the quarterfinals of the ITA Indoor Championship.
Pluskota and Whoriskey will face the Washington pair of Joyce Ardies and Denise Dy on Thursday.
Live scoring and live video of each match at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex will be available at the tournament central page.
