#35 Women's Tennis Falls at #6 UNC

CHAPEL HILL, NC - Playing its first head-to-head top ranked dual of the season, the #35 DePaul women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss at #6 North Carolina on Saturday at the Tar Heels Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The dual was part of the opening round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend while the Blue Demons (2-1) are scheduled to play the loser of the #15 Georgia and #31 VCU dual on Sunday afternoon.
The Tar Heels (3-0) swept the doubles matches. On the second court, Katarina Milinkovic and Kelsey Lawson gave #80 Jelena Durisic and Tess Lyons everything they had in their arsenal, but the UNC took the match 8-5.
Lawson carried her momentum into singles play as the freshman topped Lyons 6-1, 6-1 in the fifth position for DePaul's only point of the match.
Lawson improves to 13-9 on season while she has won her last three matches.
The Blue Demons' schedule does not get easier in its next three duals. DePaul plays either #15 Georgia or #31 VCU on Sunday, while it travels to #25 Illinois on Feb. 4 before hosting BIG EAST Conference foe Louisville at the Lakeshore Athletic Club on Feb. 6.
