
Women's Tennis Closes out Fall Season at Western Michigan

CHICAGO -- The DePaul women's tennis team closes out the fall portion of its schedule Western Michigan's Super Challenge. The three-day tournament begins on Fri., Nov. 4 a 9:30 a.m. Indoor matches will be played at the West Hills Athletic Club and weather permitting, outdoor matches are scheduled to be played at Sorensen Courts. There will be eight singles and four doubles flights played over the weekend.
The Blue Demons tangle with student-athletes from Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Penn State and host Western Michigan and enter the weekend with 28 combined singles wins. DePaul has squared off with players from both Penn State and Western Michigan and boast a 6-1 mark in those matches.
Freshman Patricia Fargas, who reached the semifinals of the Semifinals of the ITA Midwest Regional on Oct. 24, leads DePaul with an 8-3 singles record. The freshman from Barcelona, Spain has won five of her last six matches, while two of those wins came against ranked foes.
Rebeca Mitrea has recorded a 6-2 mark on the season, while Cali Gustafson, Gia McKnight and Kelsey Lawson are all 4-4 on the singles court.
The Blue Demons are 14-14 in doubles with Gustafson and Mitrea leading the pack with a 4-3 record.
Following the Super Challenge, the Blue Demons break until January when they open their Spring season at the Northwestern Invitational, Jan. 14-16 in Evanston.
