
Hrynko Earns BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

CHICAGO - DePaul freshman Brittany Hrynko was named the BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Hrynko led DePaul in scoring last week, including a career-high 25 points in the Blue Demons' win over Arizona State.
Hrynko helped DePaul to a win at Princeton (78-67) and over ASU (73-55) last week. The freshman from Philadelphia grabbed a career-best eight rebounds at Princeton to go along with 12 points and five assists. Against Arizona State, Hrynko led the Blue Demons with 25 points including a 3-of-8 effort from 3-point range. She also dished out five assists and grabbed three rebounds.
On the week, the freshman guard averaged 18.5 points and tallied five of the Blue Demons 12 3-pointers. She also had four steals and 10 assists. Hrynko also averaged 5.5 rebounds per game.
Hrynko is just the second Blue Demon to be named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Keisha Hampton was awarded the honor twice during the 2008-09 season.
Notre Dame's Natalie Novosel was named the Conference's Player of the Week after the Irish topped Kentucky last week.
