Martin Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

CHICAGO - For the third time this season, DePaul junior guard Anna Martin has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll it was announced on Monday by the league office. The Blue Demon guard, who is second in the conference in scoring (18.2), averaged 20.5 points in DePaul's wins over Illinois State and Southern Illinois.
The junior from Kentucky paced DePaul in scoring last week - recording 20 points at Illinois State and registered 21 against Southern Illinois.
On the week, Martin was 16-of-28 (.571) from the field including four 3-pointers. She was 5-of-6 from the free throw line and led DePaul with seven assists. Martin also added two rebounds and a steal in 51 minutes of action.
Martin enters this week with 989 career points and is on track to become DePaul's 27th 1,000 point scorer.
Georgetown's Sugar Rogers was named the league's Player of the Week and Pittsburgh's Brianna Kiesel earned Freshman of the Week accolades.
DePaul hosts Northern Illinois on New Year's Eve with a matinee tip time of 2 p.m. in Lincoln Park. The Blue Demons then hit the road and begin BIG EAST Conference action at Georgetown (Jan. 3) and at Providence on Jan. 7.
