Westley Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar

CHICAGO - DePaul's golf program received national recognition on Wednesday when Ben Westley was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
Westley was among the 138 players in Division I honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be eligible for All-America Scholar status, golfers must be a junior or senior academically and compete a minimum of two full years at the collegiate level. The individual must participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships.
In addition, Division I golfers must have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.
On the same day the GCAA announced its Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars, Westley shot a five-over-par 76 and finished in a tie for 47th place at the 108th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship at the White Bear Yacht Club in Dellwood, Minn.
Westley wound up with a three-round score of 223.
Westley led the Blue Demons in 2011 with a 74.57 scoring average and also topped the team with six finishes in the top 25.
His season-best finish earned the junior from Minneapolis a tie for 10th place in the BIG EAST Conference Championship.
Combined with teammate Maximilian Mayer's eighth-place finish, it marked the first time in program history that DePaul placed two golfers in the top 10 of the BIG EAST Championship.
In May, Westley won a Minnesota Players Championship qualifier.
