Cross Country Announces 2011 Slate

CHICAGO - Head men's and women's track and field coach Dave Dopek announced his program's 2011 cross country schedule. The Blue Demon runners will participate in four meets in the Midwest before competing at the BIG EAST Conference Championship and NCAA Regionals.
"As a staff, we are looking forward to the upcoming 2011 cross country season," Dopek said of his impending schedule.
"With the new cross country staff - in Leah Bohr and Andrew Craycraft, an updated schedule, a strong freshmen class coming in, and our returning leaders, we are expecting to have a breakout season. We intend to surprise some people this fall and make strides towards the program we want to achieve."
The Blue Demon runners begin their season at the UIC Invitational, Sept. 3 in Palos Heights, Ill. A week later DePaul travels the short distance to Notre Dame, Ind. for the 32nd Annual National Catholic Championship on Sept. 16.
DePaul opens October at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park - the site of the 2011 BIG EAST Championship which will run Oct. 29.
The Blue Demon's final warm-up before the Conference Championship is Pre-Nationals which is hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet will be run at the Gibson Championship Course which is also the site of the 2011 NCAA Championship on Nov. 21.
DePaul closes out the season at the NCAA Regionals which will be held in DeKalb, Illinois on Nov. 12.
