
Women's Tennis Sweeps IPFW on the Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The DePaul women's tennis team won its third straight with an overpowering 7-0 win at IPFW on Saturday. The Blue Demons dropped just four total games in doubles and won five singles sets 6-0 for the team's third sweep of the young season.
Playing doubles first, the Blue Demons (3-1) set the tone of the match by being strong and aggressive from the first serve. DePaul overpowered the Mastodons from the baseline and the Blue Demons had dominating performances throughout their lineup.
Kelsey Lawson and Cali Gustafson were the first off the doubles courts with their impressive 8-0 win over Marcy Huck and Alyssa Tucker on the top court. Gia McKnight and Jasmin Kling followed suit and overpowered Anita Henestrosa and Alex Forsyth 8-1 in the third position. The Blue Demons completed the doubles sweep when Rebeca Mitrea and Patricia Fargas won their match in the second spot.
Heading into singles, Kling completed her dominating play by sweeping Raquel Vesovi 6-0, 6-0 in the second spot.
Carolin Neumann and McKnight both won their respective matches and dropped just one. Mitrea and Lawson won their contests 6-1, 6-1. Fargas rounded out DePaul's day with her 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 position.
DePaul returns to the courts on Sunday at Butler. The Blue Demons and Bulldogs begin their match at Noon.
