Blue Demons Drop Road Game at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - West Virginia scored the game's first 11 points and didn't look back as the Mountaineers knocked off visiting DePaul, 92-75, on Tuesday night. Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young scored 21 points each but it wasn't enough as the Blue Demons fell in their final regular-season road game.
After missing its first two shots, West Virginia (18-12, 8-9 BIG EAST) hit six straight field goals to build a 14-3 advantage.
The lead increased to a 17-point advantage before DePaul chipped away and pulled to within six on two free throws by Young with 3:52 left in the half. However, Darryl Bryant scored five straight points to spark a 14-4 run to close the half with the Mountaineers holding a 47-31 advantage at intermission.
In the second half, DePaul (11-18, 2-15 BIG EAST) could get no closer than a dozen points and the Mountaineers led by as many as 25 late in the game before the score settled at 92-75 at the final buzzer.
Moses Morgan added 15 second-half points off the bench for the Blue Demons while Melvin led the team with eight rebounds and Young finished with a team-high eight assists.
Bryant scored 28 points to lead all scorers and Kevin Jones put together a 22-point, 16-rebound double-double for West Virginia.
