No. 69 DePaul Wins Fourth Straight, Tops Marquette

CHICAGO - The No. 69 DePaul women's tennis team started its weekend off with a 5-2 win over BIG EAST rival Marquette on Saturday at Lakeshore Sport and Fitness. The win is the Blue Demons' fourth straight while DePaul improves to 5-0 on its home courts this season.
DePaul (14-6, 5-1 BIG EAST), started the dual by sweeping the doubles point. All three Blue Demon pairs were dominant and each duo recorded their four consecutive win.
DePaul's No. 79 pair of Jasmin Kling and Gia McKnight started the dual off with an 8-5 victory over Olga Fischer and Kristin Radan on the top court. Cali Gustafson and Carolin Neumann clinched the point for the Blue Demons with their 8-6 win over Gillian Hush and Ali Dawson in the number three position.
Up 1-0 heading into singles, the Blue Demons capitalized on strong play from Kling, Kelsey Lawson and Gustafson to quickly claim a 4-0 lead and clinch the team's 14th victory of the season.
Kling, who entered the dual ranked No. 106, defeated Hush 6-3, 6-1 on the second court. Lawson followed and recorded her 20th victory of the season when she topped Vanessa Foltinger 6-2, 6-2. Gustafson clinched the dual with her 6-2, 6-4 win over Radan on the sixth court.
With the match in hand, Gia McKnight tallied DePaul's fifth point when she overtook Rocio Diaz 6-0, 7-5. The win was the senior's 20th of the season.
The loss drops Marquette to 11-10 overall and the Golden Eagles fall to 4-4 in BIG EAST duals.
The Blue Demons close out the regular season and celebrate Senior Day when they host No. 40 USF on Sunday. The first serve is scheduled for Noon at Lakeshore Sport and Fitness while the careers of Gustafson and McKnight will be celebrated at the conclusion of the dual.
