Blue Demons Use Late Surge to Bury Dartmouth, 90-76

CHICAGO - DePaul out-scored Dartmouth by 26 points over the last 9:43, using a late surge to win the first-ever meeting between the schools, 90-76, on Monday at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
Junior guard Megan Rogowski tied for the game-high with 18 points, knocking down four three-pointers and leading a pack of six Blue Demons in double figures.
DePaul's high-pressure defense created plenty of scoring chances, as the team held a 25-4 advantage in points off turnovers and improved to 5-3 on the season. Dartmouth fell to 1-8 overall despite an 18-point performance from Fanni Szabo.
With a packed house on hand for Field Trip Day, the Blue Demons led 51-36 at the break after nailing eight three-pointers in the opening half.
Dartmouth responded in the second half, however, using a 19-5 run to cut DePaul's lead to five with just over 13 minutes to play. Later, the Big Green made eight straight shots to take a 65-64 lead with 10:16 left.
The Blue Demons retook the lead for good with 8:45 to go on Chanise Jenkins' fourth three-pointer of the game and then used a 13-0 run to go up 79-68 with 3:25 remaining.
Overall, DePaul closed on a 21-5 run spanning the last 3:01 of the game, forcing seven Dartmouth turnovers.
DePaul returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 19 in its first game of the 2013 Duel in the Desert, facing Pittsburgh in Las Vegas, Nev. Tip is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.
Notes: DePaul improved to 1-0 all-time against Dartmouth in the first-ever meeting between the two schools... the Blue Demons are also 9-0 in school history against the Ivy League... DePaul won its 53rd straight game when clearing 90 points... the Blue Demons are 129-5 all-time when scoring 90 or more points...
