Blue Demons and Washington Clash in the Desert

LAS VEGAS - The DePaul women's basketball team takes on Washington at 2:30 p.m. (PT) in the second game of the Duel in the Desert at UNLV's Cox Pavilion on Friday. The Blue Demons opened the tournament with a 77-63 win over Pittsburgh, while the Huskies defeated Louisiana-Monroe, 81-77 on Thursday.
DePaul (6-3) has one of the highest scoring offenses in the country and is averaging 85.2 points per game and have scored at least 76 points in all nine of its games this season. Let by Megan Rogowski's 15.0 points, the Blue Demons have five players averaging 9.7 points or more per game.
Against the Panthers, Megan Podkowa led the Blue Demons with 13 points and 10 rebounds - the sophomore second career double-double. For the season, Podkowa is averaging 13.2 points and leads the Blue Demons with 7.1 rebounds per game. The sophomore has reached double figures in her last six games and is grabbing 8.0 rebounds per game during that same time frame.
The Huskies (5-3) are averaging 77.2 points per game and are led by Jazmin Davis' 19.0 points. Davis scored 30 points in the Huskies' win on Thursday. The guard was 6-of-9 from behind the arc and added four assists and a steal in the victory.
DePaul and Washington are meeting for the first time since 1990, while the Huskies lead the all-time series 2-1 and are 1-0 on a neutral court. The two programs met twice during the 1989-90 season with the second meeting coming on a neutral court in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Seattle, Washington. Against schools from the current lineup of the Pacific 12, DePaul is 8-13.
The Blue Demons close out the Duel in the Desert tournament on Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. game against Louisiana-Monroe (4-6). Following the tournament, DePaul breaks for the Christmas Holiday before traveling to Peoria for a 3 p.m. contest on Dec. 29.
