Penny Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

CHICAGO - DePaul senior Jasmine Penny was named to the BIG EAST Conference women's basketball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, it was announced by the league office. Penny's third honor roll accolade of the season comes on the heels of a 93-55 win over North Side rival Loyola on Saturday.
Penny paced the Blue Demons with 19 points which came on 8-of-10 shooting. The Logansport, Ind. native also connected on 3-of-4 from the free throw line and added six rebounds, two assists, a block and steal against the Ramblers. Penny played just 21 minutes in the victory.
Seton Hall's Tabatha Richardson-Smith was named the league's Player of the Week and Natalie Butler from Georgetown earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Penny was joined on the Honor Roll by Daress McClung (Butler), Katie McCormick (Georgetown), Tori Rule (Providence) and Jenna Crittendon (Xavier).
DePaul returns to action this week when it hosts Kentucky at 6 p.m. in Lincoln Park. Tickets are still available for Thursday showdown at McGrath-Phillips Arena and can be purchased on the DePaul Athletics website or by calling 773-325-SLAM.
Fans are encouraged to bring a non-wrapped toy to help support the Women's Basketball Toy Drive which will benefit 160 preschoolers at the Saint Vincent de Paul Center in Lincoln Park. Toys will also be donated to the victims of the November tornadoes in Central Illinois.
The Kentucky game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1, with Tiffany Greene and LaChina Robinson handling the announcing duties.
