
Volleyball Falls to Seton Hall in Straight Sets

Colleen Smith led the way for DePaul, dishing out 15 assists and adding eight digs.
JaQuayla Baker and Saige Gallop each tallied a team-high six kills, while Caitlyn Coffey and Callie Huebener chipped in five of their own.
Defensively, Coffey paced the Blue Demons with five block assists. Baker finished close behind with a total of four rejections.
As a team, DePaul was held to a .062 (24-18-96) attacking percentage - its second-lowest total of the season.
Seton Hall was led by Stacey Manthorpe who tallied a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Manthope's sister, Shelbey, notched a match-high 35 assists and added seven kills and seven digs.
The Pirates began the match on a 9-3 run before a kill by Huebener brought the deficit down to five. Seton Hall then used an 8-4 run to pull away and eventually win the first set, 25-12. Smith dished out seven assists in the frame and found the hands of five different Blue Demons.
The second set began with a point-for-point battle as both teams gained a lead no larger than three throughout the stanza. There were a total of 13 ties in the set with DePaul controlling the lead for most of the frame. Seton Hall took the lead at the 21-20 mark following back-to-back attacking errors from DePaul. The Pirates maintained the lead until they eventually won the set, 25-23. Gallop boasted a team-best four kills in the set.
Coming out of intermission, Seton Hall put its foot on the gas and took a 14-4 lead. DePaul would never get any closer with the Pirates winning the final stanza, 25-7. Baker was the Blue Demons' leading attacker, landing three kills.
DePaul returns to the court tomorrow night when it hosts Villanova at 7 p.m. in the program's annual DIG PINK match.
Notes: This was the 11th meeting between the programs all-time… Seton Hall has won all 11 matchups… the Blue Demons' .062 attacking percentage was their second-lowest total of the 2014 campaign (Sept. 26 at St. John's)… DePaul's 28 digs and 24 kills marked its lowest in the categories in BIG EAST matches this season… the Blue Demons have now been swept in four of their last five matches in conference play… Randi Leath was held without a kill for the first time this year… Kelsey Horvath tied a career-high with two kills… Caitlyn Coffey tied a career-best with five block assists.
