
Volleyball Suffers Sweep at Creighton

Saige Gallop led the way for DePaul, tallying 11 kills, seven digs and three block assists. Gallop was the only Blue Demon to reach double figures.
Callie Huebener followed up her first double-double of the season on Friday night with 10 digs, four kills, two blocks and an ace on Sunday.
As a team, DePaul committed 23 errors - their second-highest total in conference play.
Creighton was paced by Kelli Browning who smashed a match-high 13 kills. Browning also added eight blocks and three digs. Setter Michelle Sicner notched 36 assists, eight rejections, three kills and a service ace.
The Bluejays began the first set with a 10-7 led before a kill from Gallop brought the deficit down to two. Creighton then used a 10-4 run to jump ahead, 20-12. Both teams traded set's final 10 points with the Bluejays eventually winning, 25-17.
Creighton raced out to a 10-6 lead to open the second frame. A kill by Rachel Breault and an ace from Huebener highlighted a 3-0 spurt from DePaul and kept the Blue Demons in the set at the 10-9 mark. Following a Bluejay timeout, Creighton asserted their dominance in a 15-6 run to close out the set, 25-15.
Coming out of the locker room, the teams shared the first eight points with kills by Caitlyn Coffey and Gallop pacing the DePaul surge. The Bluejays then took 19 of the next 23 points and took a 14-point lead at the 23-9 mark. A kill from Gallop and dual block between Coffey and Gallop brought the margin down, but Creighton completed the sweep with a 25-12 set win.
The Blue Demons return to action next weekend as they begin a four-match home stand with a meeting with Xavier on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
Notes: This was the fifth meeting between the programs all-time… Creighton has a 4-1 advantage after taking both matchups this season… DePaul was held to a season-low .009 (24-23-114) attacking percentage… with 11 kills, Gallop has landed 10-plus kills in 11 matches this season… Lexi Chanos tallied a team-high 17 digs marking the 12th time she has led the Blue Demons in that category… DePaul is now riding a season-high nine-match losing streak.
