Fargas, Vladutu Go 1-1 in ITA Main Doubles Draw

PALISADES, Calif. -- Junior Ana Vladutu and senior Patricia Fargas, the first Blue Demon pair to be selected to the Main Draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, finished the tournament with a 1-1 mark in Palisades, Calif.
The Blue Demon duo opened up the draw with a victory in the Round of 32 over Columbia's No. 19 Tina Jiang and Crystal Leung, 7-6 (5), 7-5. Then in the Round of 16, Fargas and Vladutu dropped a thrilling three-setter to No. 6 Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger (Auburn), 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. The third and final set was a "super set" played to 10 points.
The tennis season continues for DePaul on Oct. 16-21 at the ITA Midwest Regional in Champaigne, Ill.
