DePaul Posts Solid Showing on Day One in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The DePaul women's tennis team wrapped up a strong performance on day one at the Roberta Allison Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The two-day tournament is hosted by the University of Alabama.
In the Wilmink Doubles Draw, Ana Vladutu and Yuliya Shupenia advanced to the semifinals with an 8-5 win over Alabama's Maynetto and Greene. Jasmin Kling and Patricia Fargas also advanced to the semis in the Minor Doubles Draw thanks to their 8-3 win over the Crimson Tide's Zabor and Danielle Spielmann.
In the Macfarlane singles draw, Fargas advanced to the semifinals by defeating Georgia Tech's Johnnise Renaud, 6-1, 6-4, but fell to Spielmann in the next round. In the Bentley singles draw, Vladutu pushed through to the finals with two wins over Tiffany William (Middle Tennessee State), 6-3, 6-2, and Mira Ruder-Hook (Michigan), 6-2, 6-3.
Kling also advanced to the finals of the Glinzler draw thanks to her two victories over Britt Huxley (MTSU), 6-1, 7-6 (13-11) and Naomi Tran (Michigan State), 6-2, 6-1.
The invitational concludes tomorrow.
