King's Career Match Not Enough as DePaul Falls at Seton Hall

King wasn't the only one to have a career night on Saturday.
Colleen Smith added another double-double to her repertoire with 45 assists and a career-best 21 digs.
Donning the libero, Lexi Chanos was all over the court and collected a personal-best 27 digs while dishing out five assists.
As a team, DePaul tallied 75 digs and 10 total blocks in the five-set match.
The Pirates were paced by four players who reached double-figures in kills. Stacey Manthorpe totaled a match-high 22 slams to lead Seton Hall. Manthorpe's sister, Shelbey, passed a team-best 66 assists and totaled eight digs with seven kills.
The first set began with the teams trading the first 30 points before a dual block from King and Smith gave DePaul a 16-15 lead. Seton Hall would rally and win the set behind a 10-5 run, 25-21. Five different Blue Demons registered a kill in the frame.
Following the first set, the Pirates opened the second stanza with a 7-3 lead. DePaul battled back and took the lead at the 11-10 mark following an ace from Callie Huebener. The frame got interesting as the lead changed hands five times and even went into extra points. Down 27-26, the Blue Demons strung together three-straight points to take the set, 29-27.
Coming out of the locker room, DePaul jumped out to a 13-10 highlighted by an ace from Chanos. The Blue Demons would only surrender the lead once at the 24-23 mark. Once again, DePaul put together a 3-0 run capped by a kill from King to give the Blue Demons a 26-24 set win.
Down 2-1 in sets, the Pirates dominated the fourth set. Seton Hall raced to a 16-12 lead before a kill from Saige Gallop brought the deficit down to three. That was as close as DePaul would get as the Pirates closed out the stanza, 25-17.
Back-to-back nights going to the fifth set ensued as DePaul and Seton Hall dueled in the final frame. The Pirates got started quickly with a 6-1 run before a kill from Gallop and an ace from Chanos made it a three-point set. Seton Hall eventually took the last frame, 15-7.
DePaul wraps up the 2014 campaign at Marquette next Saturday at 6 p.m.
