CHICAGO - Jessica January is on quite a roll to start the 2014-15 season, and on Monday the sophomore guard was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll.
That accolade signifies that January had one of the top seven performances of the week.
January led the Blue Demons to a 2-1 record and second place in last weekend's Maggie Dixon Classic at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
January scored a career-high 24 points in 27 minutes during Friday night's 76-68 loss to No. 5/5 Texas A&M, helping bring the Blue Demons even at 66-66 with less than three minutes to go.
She was a big part of the Blue Demon pressure defense that forced 25 Aggie turnovers.
January had 11 points, five rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes as No. 18/18 DePaul ran past Texas-Pan American 93-70 on Saturday night.
Playing her third game in three days, January came away with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 21 minutes of a 97-59 triumph over New Mexico on Sunday.
She keyed a pressure defense that forced 39 turnovers and was named to the all-tournament team.
As the Blue Demons' sixth man last season, January was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Dec. 23, 2013 and Feb. 21, 2014. She was selected to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team last March.
This is her first selection to the league's Honor Roll.
DePaul will play its fourth game in five days when it tips off at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Bradley at Allstate Arena.
