CHICAGO - DePaul senior guard Brittany Hrynko has been announced as one of the 30 members on the John R. Wooden Award watch list. The 30 included on the list are the front-runners for women's college basketball's most prestigious award.
Created in 1976, the John R. Wooden Award is the most prestigious individual honor in college basketball. It is bestowed upon the nation's best player at an institution of higher education who has proven to his or her university that he or she is making progress toward graduation and maintaining a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
Hrynko is the lone representative from the BIG EAST but is joined on the list by a wide array of talent, stemming from seven separate conferences.
This season, the Philadelphia native has led DePaul to a 4-1 record while boasting team-highs with 16.2 points per game and 3.2 steals per game. Hrynko's 22 assists in five games ranks second on the team and fourth in the BIG EAST.
DePaul returns to the hardwood at 7 p.m. on Saturday when it plays host to in-state foe Northwestern.
