Henry's Double-Double Not Enough to Overcome Early Deficit

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Myke Henry's double-double led four players in double-figures, but the DePaul basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start in an 86-74 loss to visiting Lehigh. Henry posted a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double, but the Blue Demons shot just .303 from the field in the first half and trailed by 11 at intermission.
DePaul (2-1) started slow missing 13 of its first 16 shots. The result saw the Blue Demons in a 23-9 hole midway through the first half. A deficit that the Blue Demons were unable to overcome the rest of the evening.
Two free throws by Jamee Crockett pulled DePaul to within seven points at the 3:40 mark, but Lehigh outscored the Blue Demons by an 8-4 margin over the remainder of the half to take a 41-30 lead at halftime.
Lehigh (1-4) built its advantage to 15 points before Forrest Robinson started a DePaul run with a three-pointer. The bucket sparked an 8-2 flurry for the Blue Demons that brought them to within nine at 60-51 with 11 minutes to go in the game.
The Blue Demons could get no closer than eight points over the final 10 minutes as Lehigh posted the 86-74 final.
Henry added three steals to his double-double while Billy Garrett Jr. totaled 15 points, four assists and two rebounds. Crockett chipped in 13 points and Tommy Hamilton IV finished with 12 and six boards. The four players in double-figures accounted for 64 of the 74 points for the Blue Demons as the Lehigh bench outscored DePaul's bench by a 32-10 margin.
Corey Schaefer led Lehigh with 17 points and Tim Kempton added 16 and 11 rebounds.
DePaul hosts Stanford in its next game on Sunday afternoon. Start time at Allstate Arena is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The game can be seen on FOX Sports 1 and heard on WSCR 670 AM.
Postgame Notes: Myke Henry reached double-figures for the third straight game... it was also his first career double-double and first 20-point game... the game was the first meeting between the two programs.
