
Hamilton, DePaul Too Much For Chicago State

CHICAGO - A career night from Tommy Hamilton IV led DePaul to its third straight win in an 84-60 decision at Chicago State. Hamilton totaled a career-high 25 points with eight rebounds to lead four players in double-figures.
The Blue Demons led from start to finish with two free throws by Forrest Robinson giving DePaul its first double-digit lead midway through the first half. Hamilton - who went 7-for-7 from the field - scored on a short jumper to make the lead 33-13 with 6:17 left until intermission.
With DePaul (5-1) holding a 17-point halftime lead, Hamilton already matched his career high with 17 points in the opening frame.
Chicago State (2-7) attempted to make a comeback twice in the second half, but both attempts saw DePaul quickly put deficit out of reach for the Cougars. Anthony Glover brought Chicago State to within 12 before Billy Garrett Jr. knocked down a free throw and Aaron Simpson dropped in a three-pointer for a 51-35 score with 15:29 left.
Garrett put the game away for good with seven minutes left with six free throws and a lay-up. The final two points of his personal run gave the Blue Demons a 73-52 advantage with just over six minutes left in the game.
DePaul's lead grew as high as 26 points on two late free throws by Joe Hanel before Chicago State's Clark Rosenberg hit two free shots for the 84-60 final. Rosenberg led Chicago State with 20 points.
Hamilton also hit two three-pointers and went 9-for-12 from the free throw line. The sophomore added two steals, a blocked shot and an assist in 34 minutes of action. Myke Henry added a dozen points with six boards while Garrett and Simpson each scored 11 points. Darrick Wood turned in a strong performance off the bench with six points, six rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes.
DePaul returns to Allstate Arena on Sunday, Dec. 7 against Milwaukee. Start time between the Blue Demons and Panthers is scheduled for 1 p.m. on FOX Sports 1 and WSCR 670 AM.
