
Five Reach Double-Figures as DePaul Rolls Milwaukee

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The DePaul men's basketball team used a balanced attack as five players scored 10-plus points en route to an 83-61 victory over Milwaukee. Billy Garrett Jr. led the way with 18 points, including 11 from the foul line. Tommy Hamilton IV and Myke Henry also chipped in 15.
Jamee Crockett and Durrell McDonald joined the trio in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Blue Demons started fast and began the game on a 7-0 run capped by a Crockett dunk. The Panthers responded with a 4-0 spurt to bring the margin down to three at the 14:26 mark, but that was as close as they would get in the opening frame.
DePaul used a 10-0 to lengthen its lead to 13 following back-to-back buckets from downtown by Durrell McDonald and Forrest Robinson.
The Blue Demons went into halftime boasting a 38-24 lead with seven different players registering at least one field goal. DePaul recorded nine blocks in the first half marking a season-best.
Coming out of the locker room, Milwaukee was able to muster a comeback and bring DePaul's lead down to nine at the 9:30 mark, 59-50. The Blue Demons closed out the Panthers on a 24-11 run to win, 83-61.
DePaul had its best performance at the charity stripe going 21-of-23, including 15-of-17 in the second half.
Hamilton added nine rebounds and three blocks to pace the Blue Demons in both categories. Henry and Garrett totaled seven and six boards, respectively.
Milwaukee was led by Steve McWhorter and J.R. Lyles who each totaled 13 points. Matt Tiby controlled the glass, notching 10 rebounds and adding eight points.
DePaul hits the road on Thursday to take on George Washington. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. (CT) and can be found in Chicago on Comcast SportsNet Plus and WIND 560 AM.
Postgame Notes: The 6-1 start is the best record through seven games since the 1993-94 team started with the same record... under Oliver Purnell, the Blue Demons are 25-4 (4-0 this season) when scoring 80 or more points...
