
DePaul Drops Road Game at George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Playing its first game outside Chicago, DePaul started sluggish and dropped an 81-68 decision at George Washington. Myke Henry led three players in double-figures with 22 points.
It took nearly four minutes for the Blue Demons to connect on their first field goal with a driving layup by Henry. The bucket got the Blue Demons going as Jamee Crockett scored on a steal and dunk followed by a three-pointer to give DePaul an 8-7 advantage with 14:49 left in the first half.
The two teams traded baskets before Kevin Larsen scored on four of five possessions for George Washington. His last bucket kick started a run that ended on a Nick Griffin three to make the score 25-14 with 6:29 on the clock.
George Washington (6-2) extended the lead to 20 points at intermission when Patricio Garino intercepted a pass and beat the clock on a layup.
The Blue Demons outscored George Washington, 11-4, to start the second half. However the Colonials answered and pushed the advantage back to 21 with 14:54 to go in the game.
Henry added six rebounds and three blocked shots to his 22 points. Crockett added 16 points and Billy Garrett Jr. scored 10 points with four assists. DePaul (6-2) shot .346 in the first half before knocking down 17-of-27 (.630) of their attempts in the second half.
Garino led George Washington with 19 points and both Larson and Joe McDonald added 18 points each.
Up next for the Blue Demons is a Sunday afternoon game against Illinois State. Start time at Allstate Arena is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Postgame Notes: DePaul's winning streak ends at four games... it's the longest streak since a seven-game win streak in from Nov. 27-Dec. 22 2012... the Blue Demons shot just .348 (8-23) from three-point range after going 36-for-72 (.500) over the previous four games... George Washington leads the series, 3-2... the Blue Demons are 115-98 against the current lineup of Atlantic 10 Conference programs.
